"Jesse Lincoln Windom was born on a ranch near Halsey, Oregon June 27, 1863, and passed away on November 2, 1938, being 75 years, four months, and five days of age. When he was 11 years old his mother died and he took his clothes and started out on a pony to make his way in the world. He came to the Prineville community in Oregon at the age of 16 and worked on the ranch with cattle and sheep and later homesteaded a farm in that section of Oregon...."
