Phillis Niemela

She was born in Goldendale to Phillip and Marjorie (Smith) McKanna on November 27, 1931. Phillis married Lester Niemela on January 7, 1950 in Vancouver, Washington. After their marriage the couple lived in Klickitat before moving to Goldendale in 1969.

Mrs. Niemela was an Avon salesperson for over 40 years. She loved pinochle and was queen of the Red Hat Society.

Mrs. Niemela is survived by her son Allen Niemela of Moses Lake, Washington; daughter Sharla Dow of Texas; sister Deanne Anderson of Puyallup, Washington; four grandchildren Steve Dow of Scappoose, OR, Mike Dow and his wife Stephanie of Banks, OR, Cody Niemela of San Diego, CA and Casey Niemela of Moses Lake, WA and four great grandchildren Trey and Kaden Dow of Banks, OR and Drake and Taylor Dow of Scappoose, OR.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Lester.

A funeral service will be held at Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel in Goldendale on Saturday, April 5 at 1 p.m. followed by interment at Mt. View Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Senior Center.
