Ira N. Brokaw

"Ira N. Brokaw, 83, of Goldendale, passed away peacefully at home Oct. 23, 2006, with family at his side.

Ira was born Nov. 29, 1922, on the land just outside of Goldendale where he lived most of his life. It was the family homestead land that he loved so dearly.

In 1943, he married Dorothy Freer who preceded him in death in 2000. Dorothy was the love of his life and his care and devotion to her during her long illness was an inspiration to all who knew him.

The greatest joys and interests in his life were working in his metal shop perfecting intricate parts for anyone who asked, spending time with his wide circle of friends, especially his Thursday morning coffee buddies, living on and caring for his beloved land, and spending time with his children and grandchildren during their frequent visits.

With his kindness, generosity, and love oflife, Ira made the most of everyday that he was given. He shared that time eagerly with his family and many friends.

Survivors include his four children, Gary and Kathy Brokaw of Spokane, Gayle and Mike Holm of Seattle, Mark and Jonie Brokaw of Battleground, and Kevin Brokaw of The Dalles, eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Oct. 28, at Mt. View Cemetery in Goldendale. Following the services, family and friends are invited to a celebration of Ira's life at his home."
