Charles (Gus) Beeks

"Charles William Augustus (Gus) Beeks was born September 28, 1899 in Goodnoe Hills, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. James Beeks. He died June 21, 1964 in Goldendale just two weeks after the death of an older brother, Rawleigh Beeks.

Most of his life was spent in the Goodnoe Hills area where he was engaged in the raising of sheep and in later years, of cattle. Previous to World War II he and his brother managed a riding club in Vancouver. He was well known for his participation and interest in the rodeo activities of the county.

In 1940 he was married to Margaret Smith. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Those of his family who survive him are: his wife Margaret; his sisters, Louella Miller and Blanche Fuhrman of Goldendale; Dora (Mrs. L. J.) DeHaven, The Dalles; Mae Gallarda, Chowchilla, Calif.; Etta (Mrs. Roy) Collins, Seattle; his brothers, Sam Beeks, Arlington, Ore., and Dewey Beeks, Roosevelt."
