Lola Vey Deo
Lola Vey Deo, 86, passed away at her home in Underwood on April 16, 2004. She was born in Lovejoy, Montana on June 8, 1917 to William Walter and Alice Mattie (Knowles) Pope. On
November 24, 1938 Lola married John Calvin Deo in Malta, Montana. They moved to Tacoma, then to Utah before settling in Underwood in 1954.
Lola enjoyed reading and cooking. Family was very important to her and she enjoyed collecting pictures as well as gathering bits of information and helpful hints to pass along to them. Lola tended toward natural remedies and
used garlic for everything. She was a very private person.
Survivors include her children Cheryl Koenemann and Ivadeen Berge, both of Underwood, Norman Deo of Bingen and Juleen Teel of Husum; sisters Maxine Parks of Arkansas and Bette Staar of Rochester,
Washington; brother Kari Pope of Vancouver; 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Preceding Lola in death were her husband John, who died on August 6, 1970, daughter Darlene McBride, who died on March 5, 1976, son John W. who died as an infant, and two great grandsons Justin Brown and Owen Deo.
A graveside service for Lola Deo will be held at the Goldendale Cemetery in Goldendale on Wednesday, April 21 at 1:00 PM with Bishop Jerry Lewis officiating. Gardner Funeral Home of White Salmon handled arrangements.
