Goldendale, July 22 --

Charles Burgen, 4 year old son of Mrs. G. H. Taylor, of Goldendale, was shot by Robin Ballou, 14-year old son of Chief Deputy Sheriff Robert Ballou, today, at the Rusk Soda Springs on the big Klickitat river. Ballou was playing with a revolver.   [Researcher note: Print error of 4 years old. Charles Burgen was 14.]

SUNRISE SALUTE IS FATAL

Charles Burgen, 14-year-old son of Mrs. G. H. Taylor, of Goldendale, was accidentally shot with a 22-caliber pistol in the Iiands of Robin Ballou, 14-year-old son of Robert Ballou, early Tuesday at the Rusk Soda Springs, on the Big Klickitat River. The boys were members of a camp ing party, composed of a Sunday school class, and were under the charge of Rev. Samuel M. Forsyth, pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Goldendale. The shooting was purely accidental, and the two boys were especial chums.
