Gunning, Flora Vesta

Flora Vesta Sappingfield was born near Salem, Oregon, Feb. 19, 1875 and passed away in Goldendale June 23, 1945.
She spent her earlier life on a farm with her parents near Eugene, Oregon. While there she took up photographic work. From there she moved to the Eastern part of Klickitat county. There she homesteaded and proved up on a tract of land. This land was traded to W.P. Flanary of Goldendale for his stock of books, stationery, and musical goods, 35 years ago. She has been engaged in this business ever since coming to Goldendale.
January 1, 1910, she was married to Delbert Gunning in Goldendale. He preceded her in death March, 1933.
She leaves to mourn her going an aged mother, Mrs. Frances Sappingfield and brother, Willard, both of Goldendale. Besides a niece, Mrs. J.W. Mahan, of Camarilla, California, and a nephew Oren K. Sappingfield of the U.S. Navy.
She has been a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Rebekahs ever since taking up residence in Goldendale.
Her intimate friends and neighbors will miss her congenial and understanding ways.
Services were held from the Phillips Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. C.J. Hall officiating. Interment was made in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
