MORRIS, John "Casey"
John "Casey" MORRIS was born December 20, 1881, in Streatror,
LaSalle County, Illinois to William MORRIS and
Selena "Lena" PRESCOTT. John came to Kittitas County, Washington
with his parents in 1890 and became a "familiar figure" in Roslyn.
He worked in the coal mines as a rope rider, and was a "great outdoorsman,
fishing and hunting were his favorite hobbies. He was a former member of
the Eagles Lodge."
John married his first wife, Ellen FARRINGTON on July 2, 1902 in Roslyn,
Kittitas County, Washington. She was born on February 6, 1884 in Tucarawas
County, Ohio to William FARRINGTON and Mary
HINDLEY. Ellen and her family came to Washington when she was a small
child. She died of hemorraghic scarlet fever on July 2, 1912 in Roslyn,
Kittitas County, Washington and is buried in the Roslyn Moose Cemetery.
Her death certificate is issued in the name of "Helen" MORRIS.
She may be buried in the FARRINGTON family plot in Roslyn and with a stone
marked "Helen FARRINGTON".
John and Ellen had one child, Mildred
Ellen MORRIS, born January 31, 1903. Her
birth is listed in Early Kittitas County Births,
by the Kittitas County Genealogical Society. She was christened April 30,
1905 at the Calvary Church, in Roslyn Washington. The record is signed
"Sidney A. MORGAN" and witnesses
were the parents, John MORRIS and Ellen FARRINGTON, and William
HEATHCOCK. After her mother's death, Mildred, went to live with Raymond
Arlo TAYLOR and Linnie Elizabeth SPRAY who eventually adopted her about
1913 and her name was changed to Mildred
Ellen TAYLOR.
John MORRIS' second wife, Mabel HANSON, was
a practical nurse and they had four sons: William,
Daniel, Richard
and Raymond who were twins.
John died in a mining accident, under a trip, at # 9 mine in Roslyn,
Kittitas County, Washington, on December 20, 1946 - his 65th birthday.
He is buried at the Moose Cemetery in Roslyn, Washington. Services were
held from the Episcopal Church preceding burial. Thomas
WOODWARD, lay reader, officiated. John's mother, Selena, listed in his
obituary as Mrs. James D. BONE, was alive
at the time of his death as well as a brother Harold
BONE of Roslyn, and a sister Gladys Mae
BONE Heathcock also of Roslyn.
A copy of his obituary states that he had lived in Roslyn about 35 years
and had worked for the NWI mines for 31 years.

TAYLOR, Raymond Arlo
Raymond Arlo TAYLOR married Linnie Elizabeth SPRAY. Raymond was a clerk
in the coal mines. Mildred Ellen MORRIS,
daughter of John MORRIS and Ellen FARRINGTON
came to live with the couple in 1912 when her mother, Ellen died. Raymond
and Linnie adopted her about 1913 and she became Mildred Ellen TAYLOR.
The family moved from Washington to Sheridan, Wyoming and eventually Taylorville,
Illinois. There is/was a Spray Lake on the property that is now Ft. Lewis,
Washington. Raymond and Ellen also took care of Mildred's daughter, Elizabeth
Mae "Betty" GOWIN, after Mildred divorced and remarried in
1926. She became known as Betty TAYLOR. Raymond
and Linnie are buried in Taylorville, Christian County, Illinois.

MORRIS, Mildred Ellen
Mildred Ellen MORRIS was born to John MORRIS
and Ellen FARRINGTON on January 31, 1903. She was christened April

The marriage ended in divorce in 1926.
Mildred remarried, to Ben Thomas SEMAN
May 10, 1926, and Betty went to live with the
TAYLORS. She became generally known as Betty
TAYLOR, and is now deceased.
Mildred had two children with her second husband: Shirley
Ellen SEMAN Walterhouse and Thomas Raymond
SEMAN who is deceased.
When Mildred's father, John "Casey"
MORRIS, died in Dec 1946, his family finally notified her of his death
in the spring of 1947. She was surprised to find that she had four
young half-brothers, but there remained little communication between
them, even after that.
Ben SEMAN died in 1946 and Mildred November 23, 1967. They are buried
in Taylorville, Christian County, Illinois.

BONE, Gladys Mae
Gladys Mae BONE was born to James D. BONE
and Selena "Lena" PRESCOTT. She came to Roslyn in the early
1900's and attended Roslyn schools. She married Albert
HEATHCOCK September 10, 1921. They had a daughter, Audrey
L. HEATHCOCK married a DeVERE, and lived in Chimacum
at the time of Gladys' death. Gladys was a member of the Pocohontas Lodge,
Roslyn. She died in a nursing home in Cle Elum, Washington June 8, 1981.

MORRIS, William
William MORRIS' family came from Lancashire, England to the United States.
William married Selena "Lena" PRESCOTT and had a son, John
"Casey" MORRIS, on December 20, 1881 in Streatror, LaSalle

James D. BONE's family came from Lancashire, England to the United States.
James married in 1896 to Selena "Lena" PRESCOTT, formerly the
wife of William MORRIS. James and Selena had a daughter named Gladys
Mae, and a son named Harold.

FARRINGTON, William
William FARRINGTON's family came from Lancashire, England to the United
States. William married Mary HINLEY/HENDLEY
and they had a daughter named Ellen, February 6, 1884 in Tucarawas County,
Ohio. They lived in Kittitas County in the Mid-1800's. On October 14, 1898,
William and Mary had their 10th child, Dewey FARRINGTON.
Dewey
is listed in the Early Kittitas County Births
by the Kittitas County Genealogical Society. Ellen and Dewey are the only
children whose names are known. The family may have attended Calvary Church
in Roslyn, Washington.

STENGER, Peter William
Peter William STENGER was born March 17, 1866 in Danville, Pennsylvania
to Valentine STENGER (Von STEINER) and
Dora. William married April 10, 1890 in Tacoma, Washington
to Emma Agnes KELLY, born February 5, 1872
in Utica, New York to Michael Francis
KELLY and Agnes B. McCARTHY. William and
Emma had two children, Dora Matilda
and William Francis before going
to Kittitas County in 1892. There they had Ethel
Agnes, Roy Peter, and Ruth
Rosa. Emma died on January 21, 1934 in Ellensburg, Kittitas County,
Washington. Peter died September 1, 1947 in Ellensburg, Kittitas County,
Washington. They are both buried in the I. O. O. F. Cemetery.
STENGER, Dora Matilda
Dora Matilda STENGER was born to Peter
William STENGER and Emma Agnes KELLY on January 31, 1891 in Tacoma,
Washington. She married on April 10, 1913 to George
E. PLUNKETT in Ellensburg, Kittitas County, Washington. Dora died January
21, 1976 in Ellensburg.
STENGER, William Francis
William Francis STENGER was born to Peter
William STENGER and Emma Agnes KELLY on October 8, 1892 in Tacoma,
Washington. He married Corrine
Minnie Sophie NAGEL August 16, 1916 in Tacoma Washington. William died
December 22, 1982 also in Tacoma, Washington.
STENGER, Ethel Agnes
Ethel Agnes STENGER was born to Peter
William STENGER and Emma Agnes KELLY on September 28, 1898 in Ellensburg,
Kittitas County, Washington where Ethel married John
Earl WIPPEL on June 4, 1923. She died August 6, 1980 also in Ellensburg.
STENGER, Roy Peter
Roy Peter STENGER was born to Peter
William STENGER and Emma Agnes KELLY on December 5, 1902 in Ellensburg,
Kittitas County, Washington. He married March 8, 1922 to Margaret
T. CHALLMAN. Peter died September 24, 1958 and Margaret died April 10,
1991, both in Tacoma, Washington.
STENGER, Ruth Rosa
Ruth Rosa STENGER was born to Peter
William STENGER and Emma Agnes KELLY in Ellensburg, Kittitas County,
Washington and died in Kirkland, Washington. She married Thomas
GRANT.
