Memorial service was held Saturday afternoon from the Whiteside chapel for Andrew S. Reid, 77, who passed away at his home on West Martin Street last Thursday. He suffered a heart attack after retiring. Dr. A. H. Bailey officiated, and internment was in the Masonic cemetery.
Mr. Reid, a landscape gardener, has resided in Elma four years. He was born in Coldwell [sic-Caldwell] county, North Carolina, March 31, 1876.
He leaves a son, Waner [sic-Waver] Reid, of Lenoir, N.C.; five sisters [and one sister-in-law]; Lillie C. Reid of Elma, Jane Oxford, Jessie McCleod [sic-McLeod], and Rose Smith of Lenoir, N.C., Rebecca Austin and Kate While [sic-White] of Taylorsville, N.C.; three brothers, George, James, and Samuel, of Granite Falls, N.C.; and three grandsons.
