Mr. James Smith known to old and young as "Uncle Jimmy", one of our old pioneers passed peacefully away Tuesday
afternoon at four o'clock, simply of old age. One daughter, Mrs. Samantha End, of Summerville, Oregon arriving
Monday afternoon was with him at the last. Interment will be made out at Sand Hills in the family plot Thursday,
it is expected under the auspices of the Masonic order of which Uncle Jimmy was a member.

John W. (Jack) Swiger, 72, of Troy, died Dec. 30, 2003, at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital.
He was born on Aug. 21, 1931, at Pendleton, Ore., and spent much of his early life in the Pasco, Wash., area.
Jack enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and served during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge in 1956 he returned to the northwest.
Jack worked in construction and for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on many major projects. He worked on the highway relocation phase of the Libby Dam Project and was later employed by the U.S. Forest Service, working as an engineer until retiring in 1993.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce in 1994.
Jack enjoyed music, especially playing the guitar, and was a volunteer with Hospice.
Survivors include his son Dean Swiger, Troy, and daughters Debbie Wallace of Kalispell, Connie Gibbons, Eureka, and Sandy Swiger, High Rolls, N.M.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Kootenai Senior Citizens Center in Troy.
Memorials may be made to Troy Ambulance. Arrangements are by the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.

Luella L Schneck, 77, of Richland, died Saturday in Kadlec medical Center.
She was a homemaker and had lived in the Tri-Cities since 1960.

Luella L Schneck, 77, of Richland, died Saturday, May 9, 1992 in Kadlec Medical Center.
She was born Aug 13, 1914 in New Holstein, Wisconsin and had lived in the Tri-Cities since 1960.
She was a homemaker, a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and Kadlec Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Lester J Schneck, and daughter Claire L Schneck, both of Richland.
The Rosary will be recite this evening at 7 at Einan’s Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church.
Visitation will be today from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Einan's
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Charles E Sliter, 50, of Pasco, died Sunday at his home.
He was born in Winslow, Ariz., and married Mary Oles in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in 1975. He moved to the Tri-Cities from Pomeroy in 1972.
He was an accountant for Food Giant markets in the 1950s and worked in construction in Central Ferry. He worked for Circle Service Irrigation in 1972, and Iowa Beef in 1979. He was a Korean War veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2351 of Pomeroy.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughters Debbie Ledgerwood, Pomeroy, Kim Siter, of Lewiston, Idaho, Debbie Neschiem, of Pasco, Pam Hayden, of Gramm, Michelle McLoud, of Benton City, and Kimberly Hayden, Seattle; son Robert, Seattle; brother Bill, Portland; sister Tina, New Brighton, Minn., and 10 grandchildren. His son, Don, died in 1986.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Mueller’s Chapel of the Falls.

Marjorie M Sundergelt, 72, passed away Sept 22, 1995 at Our Lady of Lourdes Health Center of Pasco.
Marjorie was born Dec 21, 1919 at Aurta (?), Iowa.
At the age of three, Marjorie and her mother, Pauline Frederick, moved to Renton, Wash. It was in Renton that she attended grade school and high school.
One highlight of her young life while growing up in Renton was to ride with President Roosevelt when he visited in 1934.
On Sep 26, 1944 Marjorie and Edward Sundergelt were married. After which time she continued tuning her love and skills for dogs and horses; training breeding, researching champion dogs obedience and raising and racing horses from Canada to Mexico.
In the 1970s, Marjorie and Edward moved to Eltopia and became a member of the LDS Columbia Basin Ward where she was loved and loved all the people who touched her life.
She is survived by her husband Edward Sundergelt.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, 1995, at the LDS Columbia Basin Ward Chapel, 7750 Eltopia West Road. Viewing will be 10 a.m. at the church prior to services.

Mrs Minnie B Strawhun, 74, of 107 E First, Kennewick, died yesterday at Kennewick General Hospital.
She was born Aug. 5, 1892, in Quenemo, Kan., and came here in 1947 from Bremerton. Mrs Strawhun, formerly a real-estate broker here, was long active in fraternal organizations and American Red Cross work. She was recipient of the 1955 Woman of Achievement Award presented by the Kennewick Women’s Club.
She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, a member of the order’s Alma Chapter 100 and current president of its Alma Circle, a member of Ladies’ oriental Shrine, Kennewick Women’s Club, Kennewick Garden Club, Past Regents of Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames of Walla Walla and Kennewick First Methodist church.
She also was chaplain of the Daughters of the Nile.
Survivors include her husband, R W (bill) at the home; a daughter, Clarice Moulton, Glendale, Calif.,; a brother, R G Hall of Palm springs, Calif.; two grandsons and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 21 p.m. Monday at Mueller’s Funeral Home with the Rev Robert Hicks officiating. Burial will be at Desert Lawn memorial park.

Funeral services will be held for Ann F Schrader, 76, of Parkers Prairie, Minn., who died Tuesday while visiting here, at 4 p.m. Friday at Mueller’s Funeral Home with Rev Howard Ramsey officiating.
Burial will be at Parker’s Prairie under the direction of Lamere Funeral Home. Friends may call at Mueller’s Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

John Patrick Shaughnessy, 89, of Kennewick, died Monday in Life Care Center, Kennewick.
He was born in Grand Forks, ND and lived in the TriCities since 1904.
He married Georgia Ray in 1923 in Ellensburg. He was an electrician and member of IBEW Local 77 for 60 years. He worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for 20 years and Army Corps of Engineers for six years and a member of East Benton County Historical Society.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia; daughters Virginia Kezele, Zillah, Mary Lou Rudd, Kent; sister Cecilia Stuhr, Yakima; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited at 7 pm Friday in Muellers Chapel of the Falls, Mass will be at 11 am Saturday in St Josephs Catholic Church.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 9 am to 5 pm
