A prosser man was killed and four persons injured in three Lower Valley auto accidents last weekend.
John D. Rupert Jr., 23, was killed about 9 am Sunday when two trucks collided at Hanks and Gap roads about five miles north of Prosser. Police said Rupert was thrown from the truck and died on the scene of head injuries.
The driver of the truck, Kenneth Roy, 24, Prosser, has a severed spinal cord, facial cuts and a broken leg. He is in Kadlec Hospital, Richland, where he was reported in fair condition following back surgery.
David Roberts, 25, Peterson, driver of the second truck, was taken to Prosser Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released for hand cuts and shock.
Roy's truck came to rest in a field. Robert's truck collided with an unoccupied parked car owned by Joseph Moreland, Seattle.
A Zillah man was injured Saturday in a two-vehicle collision a half mile north of Toppenish on Highway 22.
Forest Quick, 20, was taken to Central Memorial Hospital, Toppenish, where he was treated and released for a cut lip.
Bruce Winterfield, 17, Toppenish, driver of the other vehicle, escaped injury. His car was struck in the rear by the Quick panel truck, officers said.

Rose M. Herndon, 26, Sunnyside, complained of arm and leg bruises but was not hospitalized. The other driver, Dele Van Belle, 18, Sunnyside, escaped injury.
Rupert was one of four weekend fatalities statewide that upped the highway death toll for the year to 618 - 61 fewer than 679 of a year ago.
Killed in a three-vehicle chain-reaction was Hazel L. Clumb, 75, Elma. She was a passenger in a vehicle that collided with two other autos about two miles west of Olympia on Washington 101.
