WIN IN T-B CONTEST
Prize winners in the Franklin County Tuberculosis league essay contest were Cleo Pfliger, Pasco, first and Nina Bell Dougherty, Connell, second. These were both high school students, no grade entries being made.

MRS SHEFFIELD LEAVES
Mrs. E.D. Sheffield left Thursday for Los Angeles where she will spend Christmas visiting in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Ming and with her grandson, Bob.

Mrs. Sheffield does not plan to return north until the winter weather has gone and spring well on the way.

MRS. DOUGLAS ENTERTAINS
About fifteen members of the Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars sewing club enjoyed a pleasant afternoon at the home of Mrs. Jack Boyd, with Mrs. Mary Douglas as hostess, Friday. The special feature of the afternoon was a surprise shower for Mrs. Ray Mathews who was the recipient of many dainty and useful gifts. In that portion of the meeting that was devoted to business it was decided to change the date of the bazaar sponsored by the auxiliary, which will be held at the Columbia Hardware, Friday December the 13th.

SUNDAY TURKEY DINNER
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Westerfield, Sr. entertained last Sunday with a turkey dinner in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Erickson of Kennewick, their thirtieth wedding anniversary. Places were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Percy Ericson and son, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Westerfield and son, Ordell of Vale Oregon, and those at home. Mr. and Mrs. Westerfield and Westerfield, Jr. were unable to attend the dinner as their daughter, Beverly was confined at home with the mumps.

MRS. SACHS SURPRISED
Mrs. Leigh Sachs was pleasantly surprised in her new home on Bonneville Street, Friday afternoon by her old close neighbors on Margaret and Henry Streets, who entertained with a "No hostess" party. Gifts for the honoree's new home were showered upon her and Mrs. M.R. Denney, who was unable to attend, sent a lovely boquet of chrysanthemums. The afternoon was spent reminiscing and toasting marshmallows and wieners in the fireplace of the recreation room.

SYLVA RIPLINGER HOME
Miss Sylva Riplinger, student at the University of Washington spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.J. Ripplinger.

MRS. PETERS IS ILL
Mrs. F.N. Peters has been confined to her home for the past two weeks with the flu.

GEORGE CLAPP HEADS KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS
George Clapp was chosen as Chancellor Commander of the local Knights of Pythias this week to serve as head of the lodge next year. Besides Clapp, other officers chosen were: Vice Chancellor, Henry Beck; Prelate, Ralph Richmond; Master-at-arms, B.L. Moline; Inner Guard, Ed Goulet; Outer Guard, George Kilbury; Master of Work, A.M. Haylett; K.R.S., D.J. Speier; Master of Finance, K.J. Grimm; Master of Exchequer, A.W. Churchman; Trustee, A.A. Barnes.

The committee in charge of the annual home coming and fiftieth birthday party of the Pasco lodge, which consists of Cecil Downey, M.J. Linderman and K.J. Grimm, have prepared a tentative program for the celebration December 23rd and full details will be announced later. They appointed several sub committees to help with arrangements, these being the following: Banquet, Messrs. Beck, Martell, Campbell and Kilbury; Decorations; Goulet, Clapp and Moline; Music: Roff, Richmond, Prescott and Erdman. Various details of the program are being ironed out by the committee and details will be announced later.

CONNELL FOLK VISIT
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Showalter of Connell spent the weekend as house guests of Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Kreps and family.

LAW AND MOTION DAY IS HELD BY JUDGE DRISCOLL
Judge Matt L. Driscoll held law and motion day in Pasco, Tuesday morning, at which time John Fahey pleaded guilty to two counts of petit larceny by check and was sentenced to 30 days in the county jail on each count. Judge Driscoll held court in Ritzville, Wednesday and in Prosser, Thursday.

The jury panel was drawn by Judge Driscoll last Saturday afternoon for the jury term which is set for January 6th, for Franklin county. Jury term for Benton county has been set for January 20th.

IDAHO VISITOR IN PASCO
Mrs. Bud Jaynes of Hope, Idaho came Monday to visit at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sullivan. She will also visit at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lewis Cannon and son, Mr. and Mrs. J. Jaynes. She is enroute home from Tacoma where she visited her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. G.D. Jaynes.

ILLNESS IN WITHERO HOME
Mrs. Kenneth Withero who was confined to her home with the flu the past ten days is reported very much improved and up and about. Mr. Withero has also been ill.

Gene Houser was a business visitor at Walla Walla Saturday.

Miss Elaine Hailey left Friday to spend some time in Seattle.

MRS. CHAPMAN RECUPERATES
Mrs. O.D. Chapman, who has been ill the past week or ten days at her home, left Saturday for Winlock to recuperate in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Don Jones and family. She will also visit in the home of her sister, Mrs. A.W. Byars in Cle Elum enroute home.
