My g-granfathers brother Gustaf (Gust.) L. Samuelson borned in

Mary Armbruster in about 1920. Mary's family moved from Auburn, CA to Rex
in the late 1800s. Mary's first husband, Carl Benjamin LARSEN, died in
the flu epidemic of 1917.
Otto Jensen's uncle, Simon Peder Jensen, moved from Denmark to Mansfield
and Waterville in the late 1800s.
My dad was raised in Rex, he is Herman Otto Jensen. I was raised in the
Royal City WA area of the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project.
Bill Boning Mar 6, 1998
My Great Grandfather was W.H. Calkins who settled in Waterville in the late
1880's with his wife Sarah Jane Casterline Calkins and his son William H.
Calkins. A daughter, Jeannette Calkins Boening and her husband Edward
Boening came to the Waterville area about 1893 with two children who had
been born in Idaho (Alturas County). Edward adopted the spelling of the
surname Boning about this time. My father Charles Frederick Boning was the
first child of the family to be born in Washington State. W.H. Calkins and
Sarah both died in 1904 with two days of each other in Waterville. Edward
moved in the mid 1890's to Alstown, and then to a ranch near Twisp in
Okanogan County in 1909. I am researching ancestry of Calkins, Boening, and
Casterline.

Does anyone reading this have access to an index
of Douglas Co. deaths? and might be willing to do
a look-up?? I would love death information on
Francis A. "Frank" DUFF, who died April 20, 1906
(give or take a day or so). He died at the early
age of 42. I'm not sure where, but possibly in
Douglas Co., where some other DUFF descendants
lived.
Frank DUFF's mother, Sarah Susannah (aka Susanah)
SEDGWICK wrote letters MAILED from Daisy, Stevens
Co., WA in 1906 in which she referred to Frank's
death "out here." However, the death of Frank
DUFF does not appear to be indexed in Stevens Co.
Darn!! I'm not sure whether Frank's mother was
*living in* Daisy, with 4th!! husband Charles
K. SEDGWICK, just that's where the letter was
postmarked.

I am seeking verification of whether my great-grandparents lived in
Waterville, Washington at some point in their lives. I have a photo of
them in front of a house, and on the back, it says Waterville,
Washington. It was probably taken about 1920--give or take five years.
Their names were Orin Henry Starr, and Mary A Lemon Starr. They were
both born in Oregon, in Benton and Lane Counties, respectively. They
raised a family in Oregon, and while they spent many years in the
vicinity of Monroe and Junction City, Oregon--they may also have lived
in Yoncalla, OR for a time. I believe some of Mary's relatives lived
in Waterville--her brother James, perhaps? If any of these people are
familiar to you, I would like to know more about them.

Dr. Frank Cooper and his wife, Nancy Ellen Simonslived in Waterville,
Douglas County, from about 1888. He was the County doctor, and he
died in Waterville February 10, 1903 of pneumonia. Nan Cooper lived
there until April 20, 1938, and she is buried there near the grave of
her husband. Frank Cooper was a prominent citizen, and I am sure that
he had an obituary in the local paper on or near the date of his
death. Does anyone in Waterville have access to the old Waterville
newspaper for that date, and could a copy of the obituary be made?
I will reimburse anyone for their time and trouble.
